Is Our Election Fair : Look Back Political Party in Our Dorm

"Congratulation for Om Nando for being our dormitory coordinator. Keep our belief!" Galih R.S.  said.

Several weeks ago, our dormitory had political party to choose dormitory commitee coordinator. The election process was arraanged professionally by House Senate. House senate it self was an independent organization that regulate all process for this election, like KPU which regulate president election in our country. As house senate work debut, this year there were 3 stages of election; Candidate selection, Faith Tag Give, and Climax Election itself. The election was done perfectly, but was it fair?

Our election several weeks ago was our new election system. All 9 houses; Lion, Rhino, Komodo, Dove, Eagle, Hornbill, Shark, Mantaray, and Dolphin should prepare a student as their representative in this election, like mechanism of parpol. This was first impression to say, “it was fair as all 9 houses have their own candidate.” After that, there was interview test to choose top-6 candidate. The interviewers were all president houses from 9 houses except girl dolphin president  who can`t attend to interviewed the candidates. So, there were no reason to state that this election was subjective!

Faith Tag Gives stage was for top-6 chosen candidates, the students gave their voice with faith tag. There would be 3-top candidates to choosed in climax election. Fair was fair, but as the most students choosed to kept their faith tag, we called it golput, can I call it effective? In a day, 3-top candidates were given right to promote their self “campaign,” before climax election that night. The election started with public speaking from those 3 candidates and their vices. After that the election came and ran very nice, arranged-well. Firstly I`ve hear, “there will be second election, if the voice result of top candidate is not more than 50% of all students” and the fact said that, the candidate who got the most voice had not voice more than fifty percent of all students. There was no second election! Apparently, it was agreement of all candidates to make this election finish faster. But, I as an ordinary student did not know about it.

Talk about justice, it must be different for each person. In my eyes, this election justice was great! But there were some systems must be corrected to make the election cooler election next year. It is not just senate homework, but our homework also, as proactive student. (gal)
